Roughly four hours before the 4 p.m. EST trade deadline, the Mets and GM Omar Minaya still appear likely to stand pat without making a move for a corner outfielder or a prime reliever. The price for Raul Ibanez and Brian Fuentes has just been too high, with the Mets unwilling to deal top prospects Fernando Martinez or Jon Niese. If the Mets’ inactivity holds up, that would be just fine with Jerry Manuel.
