Breaking up is hard to do, even for major leaguers.

After Anthony Rendon agreed to a seven-year, $245 million contract with the Angels on Wednesday night, his former teammate began to rip the Band-Aid off and had some fun with it.

Trea Turner, who shared the left side of the infield with Rendon for most of the last five years and developed a bromance with the stud third baseman, filmed a video of himself going to his dresser and pulling out a t-shirt that had Rendon’s face on it with the words, “Anthony is my favorite player.” Turner dropped it on the floor and kicked it.

It remains to be seen whether Rendon — who had a matching t-shirt with Turner’s face on it and the words, “Trea is my favorite player” — will bring the t-shirt with him to Los Angeles.

Rendon’s departure wasn’t completely unexpected as the Nationals claimed they could only afford one of Rendon or Stephen Strasburg. They gave the $245 million deal to Strasburg, the reigning World Series MVP, after Rendon had reportedly turned down a $210 million offer late last season.
