The 2009 Eastern League All-Star Game will be played at Mercer County Waterfront Park on July 15, the Trenton Thunder announced Tuesday.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to host the Eastern League players and staffs at Waterfront Park for what will be a special night for the city, county and Thunder organization,” Thunder general manager Will Smith said.

The game pits the league’s Northern Division against the Southern Division. Each roster will consist of 24 players, with each of the league’s 12 franchises, including the Thunder (Yankees) and Binghamton Mets, being represented by at least one pitcher and one position player.

The Thunder were the host for the 1996 game, which drew 8,369 fans, a stadium record at the time. It is now the sixth most highly attended event in Thunder history.
