Two first-rounders signed
The Mets signed two of their three first-round picks today and assigned both to Single-A Brooklyn. University of South Carolina shortstop Reese Havens and UNC-Wilmington pitcher Brad Holt, the Mets’ first-round compensation choice, both agreed to terms and worked out with the club at Shea Stadium before tonight’s game with Texas.
Havens was taken 22nd overall, while Holt went 33rd.
The Mets have yet to sign their top pick, Arizona State first baseman-outfielder Ike Davis, but are in talks.
