Aaron Judge’s height came in handy on Tuesday.

In the top of the first inning between the Angels and Yankees at Yankee Stadium, reigning AL MVP Shohei Ohtani hit a ball that likely would’ve cleared the fence for a home run — had Judge not timed his leap perfectly.

Judge, the 6-foot-7 Yankees star, is more known for his bat than his leather, though he is also a formidable fielder.

Judge was a finalist to receive the Gold Glove in 2017 and 2018. He won the Fielding Bible Award — an award similar to the Gold Glove, but not as well known — for best fielding right fielder last season, and the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2019.

Pinstripe Alley, a Yankees blog, called Judge “arguably the most underrated fielder in baseball” in a post describing his defensive prowess last November.
