Now that Pedro Martinez is back, the biggest issue for the Mets might be whether they can get Billy Wagner back.

Wagner is pitching and hasn’t been on the DL. But he also hasn’t been good recently.

Wagner’s given up runs in five straight outings, and with 25 games to go, the Mets need their closer to revert back to his April-through-July form.

Wagner had a dead arm recently, but yesterday he insisted, “My arm’s fine. My arm’s not dead. It’s fine.” We’ll see if he can get back to form.

In encouraging news, Pedro said today that he felt fine the day after his outing.

“Thanks to God, perfect,” he said.

Pedro’s still slated to pitch Sunday at Shea in what will be a homecoming of remarkable proportions.

Not sure if anyone’s noticed this, but Carlos Delgado’s stint as the sixth-place hitter may be ending. Tonight he’s hitting fifth for the third straight game.
