(UPDATED: 1:25 P.M.) MIAMI — After some serious lobbying by the Mets, Billy Wagner is now reconsidering his veto of a trade to the Red Sox, a team source said.

Wagner accompanied the Mets here to Florida for their series with the Marlins, and a high-ranking Mets official said today that the veteran reliever would not be going to the Red Sox.

The league deadline to complete a trade is 1:30 p.m. ET, and Wagner this morning had decided to invoke his no-trade clause in part because the Red Sox were retaining their right through arbitration to get draft-pick compensation for him in the offseason. But Mets officials urged Wagner to accept the deal, which most likely would bring one or two prospects in return.
