Wagner throws 20-pitch sim
PITTSBURGH — Billy Wagner just walked off the mound here in Pittsburgh this afternoon following a 20-pitch simulated inning against rookie left fielder Nick Evans and backup catcher Robinson Cancel. Wagner, sidelined since Aug. 3 with a strained left forearm, wore a wrap on his left elbow during the simulation but seemed to hold up well with only a couple of hard-hit balls. The Mets’ All-Star closer still appears on track to come off the DL on Monday for the final game of this series with the Pirates.
