Friday night’s rainout will make for a long day at Shea Stadium, where the Mets and Reds are set for a day-night doubleheader that could have as much as four hours of down time between games. The lineups are in for the first contest, which starts at 1:10 p.m. Eastern and will feature a matchup of Johan Santana and Cincinnati’s scheduled Friday starter, Matt Belisle.
In other Mets news, Willie Randolph hinted that reliever Matt Wise could be activated between games of the DH after being on the DL since the first week of the season with a bruised forearm.
Meanwhile, backup catcher Ramon Castro — newly activated after more than a month on the DL with a strained hamstring — will play the second game today at catcher.
Randolph and the 17-15 Mets’ lineup will go with this lineup the first game:
Jose Reyes SS
Luis Castillo 2B
David Wright 3B
Carlos Beltran CF
Ryan Church RF
Moises Alou LF
Carlos Delgado 1B
Brian Schneider C
Johan Santana LHP (3-2, 2.91)
The Reds, who are in last place in the NL Central, will have Ken Griffey back — at least for the first game — after preparing to scratch him Friday due to illness. Griffey, by the way, needs just three homers to reach the 600 milestone.
This is what Cincinnati will throw at the Mets in the first game:
Corey Patterson CF
Ryan Freel LF
Ken Griffey Jr. RF
Brandon Phillips 2B
Joey Votto 1B
Edwin Encarnacion 3B
Jeff Keppinger SS
David Ross C
Matt Belisle RHP (1-2, 6.91)
