Wet grounds in Tampa yesterday didn’t allow Derek Jeter to jog for the first time since landing on the disabled list with a strained right calf muscle.

According to manager Joe Girardi, Jeter was slated to participate in a light running program at the Yankees’ minor league complex.

Jeter didn’t run outdoors and didn’t take grounders on the infield grass, either. He hit off a batting tee and soft tossed and ran in a pool.

“Hopefully that will be [today] or [tomorrow],” Jeter said of when he will begin an outdoor running program.

Jeter, who turned 37 yesterday, is eligible to come off the DL Wednesday, but that is highly unlikely at this point.
