The Yankees are remaining tight-lipped about plans for Alex Rodriguez’s final game as a Yankee on Friday night in The Bronx.

Owner Hal Steinbrenner said Monday on ESPN Radio there will be a ceremony, but with rain in the forecast, that could be problematic.

If the game gets postponed, it won’t be as easy as simply pushing back the plans, because on Saturday the Yankees will be commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 1996 World Series team, and it’s unlikely they would want Rodriguez to overshadow the return of former players such as Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte, not to mention others whom Rodriguez has icy relationships with such as Derek Jeter and Joe Torre.

General manager Brian Cashman simply wants the week — starting Tuesday at Fenway Park — to go smoothly for Rodriguez.

“He’s been through some difficult times and hopefully he gets a chance to finish the way he wants to,’’ Cashman said. “He’s had people reaching out to him. In times like this, you find out who your friends are. No one wants to be told their career is over.”
