From JOEL SHERMAN

With the Mets do you just say this is six games? Do you look at the big picture, 156 left and a clearly talented roster? Or do we deal with that sense again that the Mets lack some hard to define trait: Is it relentlessness or devoted passion or united fraternity?

For me it is not 2-4, it is that feeling I get around the team when I get the strong impression that Moises Alou and Pedro Martinez are not being strictly monitored on their rehabs (heck, Alou was allowed to return to the Dominican for a while); when Pedro Feliciano shows up in the seventh inning and possibly costs the Mets the home opener (check out today’s column); when Willie Randolph and every Met not named David Wright read from the same script of last season about how things will straighten out and no need to stress too much on it.
