Whelan promoted to Trenton
RHP Kevin Whelan, one of the Yankees better pitching prospects, has been promoted to Double-A Trenton from Single-A Tampa. Whelan had a late start to his season, first getting into action in early May because of a sore arm. Whelan was 1-0 with a 4.67 ERA and a save in nine apperances for Tampa so far this year. The No. 15 overall prospect in the Yankees system, according to Baseball America, was 4-2 with a 2.98 ERA last year in 31 appearances for Trenton.
