Willie Randolph said today that left fielder Moises Alou (pictured) is likely to go on the DL because of the strained left calf that knocked Alou out of Wednesday’s game in the third inning. In response, the Mets are recalling catcher Raul Casanova from Triple-A New Orleans. Randolph said Casanova can also play first base. The Mets’ corner outfielders tonight against the Braves will be Marlon Anderson in left and Endy Chavez in right, with Ryan Church (concussion) expected back Friday night in Denver.

6:55 P.M. UPDATE: Alou was just placed on the DL, with Casanova brought up to take his roster spot.

9:10 P.M. UPDATE: Church just entered tonight’s game as a pinch-hitter for Johan Santana, assuring a return to the starting lineup Friday night.
