SAN DIEGO — David Wright hit a three-run homer and Angel Pagan had three RBIs as the New York Mets won their first series in San Diego in more than nine years with a 7-3 win over the Padres on Wednesday night.

Rookie Dillon Gee (11-4) limited the Padres to one run on five hits. The right-hander, who pitched 6 2-3 innings, also made a sparkling fielding play in the third inning that resulted in an inning-ending double play.

Wright connected in the third inning off Mat Latos (6-12) for his 10th home run. He also turned in a tricky play at third base that resulted in the final out of the third inning to thwart a San Diego rally.

Since returning from the disabled list on July 22, Wright is batting .314 (25 of 32) with four homers and 21 RBIs.
