Another day, another surprising award for a Mets team that underachieved in 2008 and ended up missing the playoffs. Third baseman David Wright was named to the The Sporting News’ NL All-Star team today after a vote of 41 general managers and assistant general managers from both leagues. Wright was the only Met chosen. Wright’s honor came one day after left fielder Fernando Tatis was tabbed the NL’s Comeback Player of the Year by the Major League Baseball Players Association based on a vote of his peers.
