Choosing to undergo surgery to fix the torn meniscus in his right knee, Alex Rodriguez will be missing in action for four to six weeks. And maybe even longer than that.
Rodriguez received a second opinion Sunday in Miami from Dr. Lee Kaplan, who concurred with the Yankees doctors that surgery was the proper course of action. A-Rod will have surgery Monday at the University of Miami, and the Yankees said he will require a four-to-six-week recovery time. If Rodriguez cannot begin baseball activities for six weeks his return to the lineup may not come until September.
The Post’s Joel Sherman first reported that Rodriguez was strongly leaning toward having the operation.
“I think it’s good,” CC Sabathia said. “We want him to be right.”
