OAKLAND, Calif. — Aroldis Chapman picked up his 300th save Thursday night in the Yankees’ 7-6 win over the Athletics, but of more importance to the team, it was the left-hander’s first save since Aug. 5.
Chapman made some mechanical adjustments with pitching coach Matt Blake and bullpen coach Mike Harkey prior to Thursday’s game. He went back to using his fastball, something he had avoided in his previous outings.

He retired the first two batters before Starling Marte reached on an infield single and stole second. But with the tying run in scoring position, Chapman got Matt Olson to ground out to end the game.
“That was a big outing for him,” manager Aaron Boone said.
