Add Brennan Boesch to the list.
Signed last week the left-handed hitting outfielder was scratched from today’s game against the Twins due to a strained left rib cage issue.
With Curtis Granderson expected to miss at least the first month of the season with a broken forearm, the Yankees signed Boesch earlier this month with hopes that the former Tigers outfielder would address depth issues after a slew of injuries hit the Bombers.
The team also hoped that the 27-year-old outfielder would provide the lineup with a lefty power bat to complement Robinson Cano. Boesch also would allow for manager Joe Girardi to potentially platoon Juan Rivera at first base and keep Kevin Youkilis at third.
Boesch’s stock dropped with the Tigers last season, leading the American League champions to release him and the Yankees to sign him to a $1.5 million contract.
