Miguel Andujar is back with the Yankees.

The return of the embattled third baseman and sometime left fielder coincides with Aaron Hicks being placed on the paternity list prior to the game.

Manager Aaron Boone said he expects Hicks to be out for the three-game series versus Baltimore, but that could change.

Though it’s unclear if Andujar has any kind of long-term future with the Yankees, being recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre comes after a solid start to the season. Andujar’s career has been plagued by injuries and inconsistency since 2018, when he hit 27 home runs and finished second to Shohei Ohtani for AL Rookie of the Year.

This year, the 27-year-old Andujar has a .947 OPS with three homers and a double in 53 plate appearances at Triple-A. Andujar played six games in left field and five at third base — and made a pair of errors at third.

He wasn’t in the lineup Tuesday. The struggling Josh Donaldson started at third, Gallo was in left field and Gleyber Torres was the DH.

“He’s been great,’’ Boone said of Andujar before the Yankees’ 12-8 win over the Orioles at the Stadium. “I really feel like [Andujar] came in this spring probably in the best place he’s been in the past couple years: Physically in really good shape and I felt like mentally, he really did good work and performed.”

Andujar went 7-for-23 with a pair of doubles, a homer, two walks and five strikeouts during the spring. But he’s still without a clear roster spot on the Yankees, who have so far not found a trade partner for him.

Andujar credited a slight change to the toe tap in his swing for part of his improved production, but mostly attributed it to being healthy.

“I think he senses that he’s not getting consistent opportunities up here,’’ Boone said. “Dealing with all of that, I’m sure the weight on him has been difficult at times. I feel he’s gotten to a place where he’s been able to take care of himself and go perform. He’s earned this opportunity.”

Boone added he wasn’t sure how the team would use Andujar while he’s in The Bronx.

“We’ve got a guy who’s off to a good start [in the minors] and can play a key role,’’ Boone said.

It has been a while since Andujar has been a consistent player in the majors. He has shown glimpses in recent years, such as a three-game series in Minnesota last June, when he went 6-for-11 with two homers and no strikeouts.

Gleyber Torres had a three-run triple and is 6-for-13 with a double and a triple in five games since he snapped an 0-for-17 skid. … DJ LeMahieu had two more hits, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

Giancarlo Stanton showed signs of breaking out of a slump, with two hits after he entered the game 2-for-27.

“It’s always so subtle with [Stanton],’’ Boone said before the game. “He can look bad taking a swing and then literally the next pitch, look like something you’ve never seen before.”

Stanton’s issues are more complicated than that.

After walking 11.5 percent of plate appearances throughout his career, he has just one walk in 65 plate appearances this year. He’s also striking out 34.9 percent of the time, the highest of his career.
