OAKLAND, Calif. — Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano will make his Home Run Derby debut Monday night in Anaheim.
Cano, who had 16 homers going into tonight’s game against the A’s, was named Tuesday to the AL group that includes Miguel Cabrera, David Ortiz and Vernon Wells.

Sergio Mitre fanned five of six batters in a minor-league rehab start for Single-A Tampa.
Mitre’s chances of rejoining the Yankees bullpen are a lot better than Alfredo Aceves’, who was sent from Tampa to New York to have a lower back disc problem examined by Dr. Chris Ahmad after the right-hander cut short a throwing session Monday.
