TORONTO — Talking from his Florida home, Bucky Dent heard the question and paused before answering.

“Time is flying, I don’t believe it,’’ the former Yankees shortstop said when asked if it seemed real that it is the 40th anniversary of the 1977 Yankees, a team that will be celebrated Monday with a golf tournament/fundraiser for Hank’s Yanks at Trump Golf Links in The Bronx. “It’s really gone fast.’’

Dent will join Mike Torrez, who won two games in the 1977 World Series against the Dodgers, Mickey Rivers, Roy White and others from that team that stopped a 14-year World Series title drought by winning in six games. Reggie Jackson, who hit three homers in the Game 6 clincher, is being honored at the event and was listed as confirmed on a press release.

Yankees general partner Hank Steinbrenner also will be on hand.

“I see a few of the guys when I am in New York: Goose, [Ron] Guidry, Mickey,’’ said Dent, who would leave his initials in Yankees lore the following year with a homer to beat the Red Sox in a playoff game. “It’s always good to see those guys.’’

Due to a back problem, Dent has stopped playing golf. But he hasn’t stopped following the Yankees.

“I like what they’re doing, it’s a good crop of kids,’’ Dent said. “I like the way they carry themselves. Finally, there is a little excitement in The Bronx. If the pitching holds up, they can go a long way. It’s the first time in a long time they had good, young kids and kept them. And there are good ones coming.’’
