It’s Happ-ening.
After weeks of speculation, J.A. Happ is moving from the Blue Jays to the Yankees, as the two teams were in agreement on a trade Thursday, pending the final details, according to The Post’s Joel Sherman. The Yankees will send odd-man-out third baseman Brandon Drury and their 20th-best prospect, outfielder Billy McKinney, to Toronto.
The 35-year-old journeyman Happ is 10-6 with a 4.18 ERA this year and has much experience against the Red Sox. Happ’s value was much greater a month ago, but the left-hander has not pitched well in July, going 0-3 with a 7.41 ERA in four starts.
The Yankees wanted a top starter, but one still hasn’t materialized on the trade block. Instead, they added ammunition to their bullpen with Tuesday’s trade for Zach Britton and are now solidifying their rotation depth.
