Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira each homered to back starting pitcher CC Sabathia in the Yankees’ season-opening 6-3 win over the Tigers at the Stadium.
Sabathia gave up three runs in six inning, striking out seven. Mariano Rivera pitched a perfect ninth inning to record the save, following scoreless innings by Joba Chamberlain and Rafael Soriano.
