In a surprising development, the Yankees have failed to sign two of their top three draft picks – first-round pick Gerrit Cole, a high school pitcher from Orange, California, and second-rounder Scott Bittle, a right-handed reliever from Ole Miss.

The Yankees did sign their second overall pick, supplemental first-rounder and Stanford left-hander Jeremy Bleich.
