The Yankees-Rays game was stopped briefly in the bottom of the eighth after a fan behind home plate was shouting out the location of where Tampa Bay catcher Wilson Ramos was set up with Gary Sanchez at the plate and Austin Pruitt pitching. The umpires ejected the fan from the Stadium.

“You could definitely hear the guy scream ‘Outside, outside,’ ” Sanchez said through an interpreter after the Yankees’ 6-1 win over the Rays on Tuesday night at the Stadium. “But you don’t know if it’s a slider or fastball. You’ve got to stick your plan.”

Play resumed after about 90 seconds. Sanchez fouled off a pitch, then hit a bloop RBI single.

Manager Joe Girardi said the fan deserved to be ejected.

Sanchez had his own issues when behind the plate.

He let a Jordan Montgomery pitch in the dirt skip through his legs for a wild pitch that allowed Adeiny Hechavarria to reach in the fourth. Another ball got away from him on a strikeout in the seventh, but he was able to get to it in time to get Kevin Kiermaier at first.
