As he stood out in right field, Aaron Judge heard plenty of chants Friday night, aimed at the general manager who re-signed him the offseason.

Several fans in the Yankee Stadium bleachers at Judge’s back wore “Fire Cashman” shirts and carried signs calling for the dismissal of Brian Cashman, the GM who assembled a team that almost certainly will not finish this season in the playoffs.

Jon Borowski, a Yankees fan, organized the event, which did not rise to the level of a protest.

In the bleachers were signs such as “Fire Trashman” and “Cash Out,” but the “Fire Cashman” chants were not overwhelming, and ultimately were drowned by cheers during a three-homer night for Judge in the Yankees’ 7-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

“Fans aren’t happy,” Judge said of the chants. “The ones that are showing out every single night and spending a lot of good money to watch us win games, and this year we haven’t. I think as an organization, top to bottom, we all take responsibility. As a player, we take the most. We’re the ones out there doing it, we’re the ones out there playing every single night.

“I hear their frustration, that’s for sure. We’ll get it right.”

A Yankees spokesman said the Stadium allows fans to bring in signs as long as they don’t include expletives and are small enough that they do not block other fans.

Cashman has come under fire during a season he described last month as a “disaster.”

Cashman has been in charge since 1998 and has won four World Series as GM, but none since 2009.

The Yankees called up Yoendrys Gomez, a righty who was with Double-A Somerset, and was packing up his things to go home when he was told to stick around a bit longer.

Gomez, who already was on the 40-man roster, replaced Wandy Peralta on the 28-man roster as the veteran lefty hit the injured list with a left triceps strain.

The 23-year-old Gomez has long been a valued prospect, but has fought a series of injuries.

He had Tommy John surgery in 2021 and shoulder issues to begin this season.

He joined Somerset at the end of May and pitched to a 3.58 ERA in 18 starts with 78 strikeouts in 65 ¹/₃ innings.

With bad weather looming this weekend and doubleheaders a possibility, Gomez could be useful.

“Just attacking hitters and working on my mechanics,” Gomez said through interpreter Marlon Abreu about his focus this season. “Using a fastball in certain spots, things like that put together have allowed me to have a good season.”

Jhony Brito pitched 3 ²/₃ inning and allowed one run on one hit — a ninth-inning home run by Christian Walker.

Brito also recorded his first career save, becoming the 10th different Yankee to tally a save this season.

Outfielder Everson Pereira missed an eighth straight game with a low-grade hamstring strain.

He ran in the outfield before the game.

“Hoping he’s available this weekend,” manager Aaron Boone said. “We’ll see.”
