Mookie Betts ventured into the wild at his own risk Tuesday night and tussled with two possible escapees from the Bronx Zoo.
In the end, justice was served: Betts was rewarded for his perseverance and the two fans who got touchy with him were ejected.
Gleyber Torres led off the bottom of the first inning of the Yankees’ 11-4 victory over the Dodgers in Game 4 of the World Series with a fly ball that sliced toward the side wall in right field.

As Betts attempted to reach into the glove with his right hand to show that he had the ball, a second fan grabbed his right wrist.
The ball popped out, but right field umpire Mark Carlson ruled Torres out because of fan interference.
Betts avoided addressing the subject afterward.
“When it comes to the first-inning play, it doesn’t matter,” Betts said. “We lost. It’s irrelevant. I’m fine. He’s fine. Everything is cool. We lost the game and that is kind of what I am focused on.”

“I thought [Betts] had a beat on it and … a fan got in the way, and the umpires got it right.”
It wasn’t the first time in this series Torres hit a ball with which a fan interfered.

But a fan reached over the fence to catch the ball and Torres’ shot was reduced to a double.
Betts, whose Dodgers still lead the series 3-1, said he wasn’t surprised with the resiliency the Yankees displayed on this night.

We didn’t play well today and they did and that is why they won.”
