SEATTLE — The Yankees’ $8 million investment in lefty reliever Pedro Feliciano is in jeopardy of not yielding anything.

Feliciano, who hasn’t pitched a game for the Yankees, underwent surgery on his left shoulder on Sept. 9 to repair a rotator cuff problem.

That puts him in a position where he may not be able to pitch next year, either.

Feliciano signed a two-year contract as a free agent after pitching in 266 games for the Mets from 2008-10, including 92 in 2010.

He was shut down due to a shoulder problem in spring training, and GM Brian Cashman said the way the Mets used Feliciano was “abusive.”

“The [Mets’] use pattern was abusive, but the MRI itself shows what he’s got,” Cashman said April 4 after an exam revealed a muscle problem. That leads us to believe all of this is resolvable and it’s not a major issue. It’s just a timing issue.”

The Yankees hold a team option for the 2013 season.
