It was brief, and didn’t lead to much of anything. But, according to ESPN insider Buster Olney, the Yankees and Angels discussed an Aaron Judge trade in the offseason.

Olney wrote that it was the “lightest of flirtations” and “nothing advanced,” and it was not clear who else could have been included in the trade.

It’s also not the first time Judge’s future with the Yankees has been brought into question.

A myriad of injuries have slowed down the power-hitting outfielder in recent seasons, as Judge has failed to replicate his epic 2017 campaign when he went deep 52 times and notched a 1.049 OPS.

Judge hasn’t started overly fast this year for the 9-12 Yankees, batting .250 with four homers in 20 games. At least he’s healthy, though. That’s a start.

The 28-year-old, who grew up a couple hours outside San Francisco, will be eligible for free agency after the 2022 season.
