With baseball’s First-Year Player Draft scheduled to start tomorrow night at 6 p.m., it’s getting right down to the last for both the Mets and Yankees as they prepare to select about 50 players each. But with the Mets out of the first round because of the signing of Francisco Rodriguez from the Angels during the offseason, the Yankees are the only local team to be mentioned in various mock drafts. Both Baseball America and MLB.com have the Bombers selecting an outfielder – though each has them taking a different one. Baseball America still has them selecting Slade Heathcott, a Texas high schooler. Meanwhile, MLB.com has them taking Cal product Brett Jackson. Either way, be sure to keep an eye out here tomorrow night, as I will be live-blogging throughout the draft with news on picks not only for the Mets and Yankees, but other developments that will take place as well.
