A new contract between the Yankees and Joe Girardi could be worked out as early as tonight. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman will meet with Girardi’s agent, Steve Mandel, today to begin negotiations. It does not sound as if they will take long.

“I want to be back,” Girardi said. “I hope it gets done quickly.”

Girardi is expected to get a three-year deal.
