While Brian Cashman said the organization supports Alex Rodriguez, the GM said he hadn’t heard from other voices inside the Yankees’ universe who objected to David Wells’ criticism of Rodriguez’s admitted use of steroids.

“He gave his opinion like he always does,” Cashman said of Wells’ comments Sunday, the 11th anniversary of his perfect game. “I didn’t give it a second thought. David has always had strong opinions. We support Alex and he has had some serious issues. At the same time, David always speaks his mind.

“Everyone understands Alex and the attention to a serious subject and people are going to have strong opinions. I haven’t heard anybody say anything about (being mad at Wells).”
