The Yankees have placed Curtis Granderson on the disabled list with a strained groin he injured in today’s 7-6 loss to the White Sox.
The team will call up relief pitcher Mark Melancon to fill Granderson’s roster opening. The team called up a relief pitcher instead of an outfiled due to the use of the bullpen today.
Granderson had an MRI exam at New York Presbyterian Hospital which revealed the extent of the injury.
