JUPITER, Fla. — With the world trying to combat the coronavirus, people in baseball have wondered whether the Yankees’ two-game trip to Montreal to play the Blue Jays at the end of spring training might be scrapped.

“I don’t think Montreal is any different than any other city,’’ general manager Brian Cashman said before the Yankees lost, 3-1, to the Marlins at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Wednesday. “It depends on where you happen to be and in any specific locale and what their cluster situation happens to be. No matter where you go it’s either been or going to be.’’

Cashman hasn’t been spotted in his seat behind home plate at Steinbrenner Field as much as in past spring trainings because he has been fielding phone calls.

“Lot of phone calls during games as of late, more so than watching the games,” he said. “You don’t see me behind home plate typically as much. Got a lot of extra stuff this spring as you would imagine.”

Like all GMs, Cashman has been gathering information about the coronavirus and how clubs can best handle the situation.

Cashman said he doesn’t have anything active on the trade front.

“If anybody is putting ideas out there, they are false ideas,’’ Cashman said. “We haven’t had anything brewing.’’

Giancarlo Stanton (strained right calf) took live batting practice for the first time in his rehabilitation. The outfielder/DH took at-bats against relievers Adam Ottavino and Zack Britton (before Britton bruised his right wrist when struck by an Erik Kratz comebacker), launching a homer to right against Britton.

Manager Aaron Boone said catcher Gary Sanchez will be reexamined Friday after testing positive for the flu on Tuesday.

“I texted him [Tuesday night, he] felt like crap,’’ Boone said Wednesday. “He is at home, medicine and hopefully on the mend.’’
