Scream weaver

Swingman Luke Weaver gave up three runs on four hits and a walk in a start that lasted only 1 ¹/₃ innings, though he was focused on repeating his revamped delivery — using more of a slide step and less of a leg kick.

Caught my eye

Austin Wells had his best offensive performance of the spring, going 2-for-3 with a double, home run and even a steal.

Though Wells is known for his bat, Aaron Boone has been encouraged by his defensive improvements behind the plate.

“I’ve been so impressed with how good of a catcher I think he’s becoming,” Boone said.
