The Yankees are closing in on a trade for Angels outfielder Vernon Wells, sources from both sides of the discussion confirmed with The Post.

One source described the talks as “serious and active.” Another source said the deal is “not done, but expected to get there.” Wells would likely play left field for the Yankees, who are dealing with an unusual glut of injuries. It’s unclear who would be sent to the Angels.

One of the potential sticking points, a source said, is that Angels owner Arte Moreno doesn’t want to eat a lot of money. Wells has two years and $42 million remaining on his contract.

“Thankful and Blessed! #Pinstripes,” Wells tweeted Sunday night.

Wells, 35, is coming off an injury-plagued season in which he hit .230 with 11 home runs and 29 RBIs in just 77 games. In 2011, he hit .218 with 25 home runs and 66 RBIs. In his prime, Wells was a center fielder, but now he plays primarily left.

Yankees center fielder Curtis Granderson, first baseman Mark Teixeira and now shortstop Derek Jeter are all expected to miss the season opener and beyond due to injuries. Third baseman Alex Rodriguez is out until midseason at the earliest recovering from a torn labrum in his hip.
