The Yankees may have found the right-handed bat they’re looking for.

According to ESPN.com, the Yankees have interest in trading for Nationals first baseman/outfielder Michael Morse, a 30-year-old power hitter, who hit .291 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs, playing in 102 games last season. The right-handed slugger, who hit 31 homers in 2011, is available because of a crowded Nationals outfield and the team’s re-signing of first baseman Adam LaRoche.

Morse, who is scheduled to make $6.75 million in 2013 and will be a free agent after the season, could help diversify a lineup featuring the left-handed bats of outfielders Curtis Granderson, Ichiro Suzuki and Brett Gardner.
