Derek Jeter was struck on the right hand in today against Baltimore, suffering a bruised middle finger. X-rays were negative and he is listed as day-to-day.

Jeter got hit on the right hand in the third inning by Jake Arrieta’s 91-mph fastball, wincing and doubling over in pain. Joe Girardi came out of the dugout as Yankee trainer Gene Monahan administered to Jeter, but he initially stayed in the game.

However, the Bombers eventually pulled Jeter in the next inning. Francisco Cervelli pinch-hit for Jeter and played second base for only the second time in his career, while Eduardo Nunez moved over to shortstop to replace Jeter.
