Try it freeThe Yankees’ Opening Day roster is set, and Oswald Peraza has made the cut, at least for now.
Peraza and non-roster invite Pablo Reyes secured the final two bench spots while Yoendrys Gómez and Brent Headrick rounded out the bullpen as the Yankees announced their 26-man roster before opening the season Thursday with a win over the Brewers.
That said, things can change quickly.
Opening Day roster spots do not guarantee staying power.
Two years ago, an out-of-options Estevan Florial made it and was designated for assignment before Game 2.

This year, the Yankees were searching for a right-handed bat late in camp — keeping tabs on players who were cut or opted out of minor league deals elsewhere — but have not yet scooped any up.
For now, in Peraza and Reyes, the Yankees have a pair of right-handed bats on their bench for a lineup that skews left-handed.
Reyes earned a spot with a strong camp offensively in which he also showed his defensive versatility while bouncing around third base, second base and the corner outfield spots.
Peraza, meanwhile, was out of minor league options and now will try to stick as a backup infielder with a slick glove but not much bat, at least not that he has shown in his handful of big league opportunities.
One of them, likely Reyes, figures to start against lefty Nestor Cortes on Saturday.
“I’ve been really impressed with what I’ve seen from Pablo, just the defensive versatility he gave us but really the way he swung the bat,” manager Aaron Boone said. “There’s life in his bat. Oswald, we know. Oswald is such a good defender over there. He’s struggled a little bit the last couple weeks swinging the bat, at the back end of spring training.
“It could be a combination of the both of them [against lefties]. I’ll let that situation play itself out.”
Brent Headrick will start the season in the Yankees bullpen. Charles Wenzelberg / New York PostWith the last two spots in the bullpen, Gomez and Headrick offer the Yankees length, built up to throw at least in the range of 30-40 pitches.
Gomez, who also is out of minor league options, had a strong camp with his velocity ticking up as he converted to a full-time relief role.
Headrick will be the Yankees’ third lefty in the bullpen, along with Tim Hill and the recently signed Ryan Yarbrough.
Giancarlo Stanton (tennis elbows) recently started swinging a bat, Boone said, which he had not done since January.

The veteran DH still is likely months away from playing in games, but this marks progress after he received three rounds of PRP injections in both elbows during camp.
“Encouraged about at least the last couple of weeks, but we still got a ways to go,” Boone said.
To make room for Reyes on the 40-man roster, the Yankees placed Jake Cousins (elbow flexor strain) on the 60-day IL.
The reliever still is early in his throwing progression after being shut down for five weeks.
