Joe Girardi says another Derek Jeter contract could end with another position.

According to ESPN.com, the Yankees manager could see his shortstop moving to center field at the end of his career, after his new four-year contract is over.

“It all depends on how long he plays the game,” Girardi told MSG during Wednesday’s Knicks telecast. “He’s our shortstop and that’s what we plan on him being … but if he plays beyond this contract it’s possible he plays somewhere else.”

GM Brian Cashman raised the possibility of a position switch at a fan event last month, but Jeter said this week he has no plans to move from shortstop, and does not know what his future holds.

Jeter, 36, has a three-year contract with a fourth-year option.
