INSIDE THE MATCHUPS

YANKEES: Kuroda faces the Braves for the second time in six days after beating them on Wednesday, allowing two runs in six innings while striking out a season-high eight. After an inconsistent start, he is unbeaten in his past four starts, with three wins, a 1.29 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 28 innings in that span.

BRAVES: Hudson, who is five months Kuroda’s junior (believe it or not), makes his 10th start of the season after missing most of April recovering from offseason back surgery. In three non-Coors Field road starts, he has allowed one run and 14 hits over 23 2/3 innings. The former Athletic is winless in six lifetime starts in The Bronx, all at the old Stadium.

STAT SO?

YANKEES: Lefty reliever Boone Logan, who has a 2.28 ERA and 1.31 WHIP this season, came from the Braves in the Javier Vazquez trade after posting a 5.19 ERA and 1.73 WHIP for Atlanta in 2009.

BRAVES: Switch-hitter Chipper Jones has a career batting average of .304 as a lefty and .304 as a righty.
