INSIDE THE MATCHUPS
Yankees: In four starts since rejoining the rotation, Garcia is 2-1 with a respectable 3.97 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings, just once making it through six innings. The veteran opened his career with the Mariners, winning 76 for them between 1999-2004. He has a lifetime 3.65 ERA at Safeco Field.
Mariners: Reports of King Felix’s demise after a rocky six-start stretch in the spring (1-4, 6.37 ERA, seven HRs) were greatly exaggerated. He is unbeaten in seven starts since June 17, with a 1.36 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 53 innings. The 26-year-old is 6-5 with a 3.45 ERA in 12 career starts against the Yankees, including a loss on May 11, when he allowed 11 hits and four runs.
