After dominating Eastern League pitching for the first four months of the season, Brandon Laird will get a chance to prove he can do the same in Triple-A.

The third baseman, who hit .291 with 23 homers and 90 RBI in 107 games with Double-A Trenton, will be promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre. The combination of Chad Tracy opting out of his contract and Reegie Corona breaking his arm opened up a spot for Laird to man the hot corner there.

Laird’s brother, Gerald, is a catcher in the majors.
