TAMPA — Aaron Judge is moving toward taking batting practice, according to Aaron Boone.

“Expect to start his hitting program and ramping him up [Friday],’’ the manager said of his right fielder, who has been shut down from taking batting practice since pre-camp with soreness in the right shoulder. “He will be in the cage hitting off the tee and soft toss. Feel good about where he is at.’’

After not playing catch on Tuesday, when the Yankees held their first full-squad workout, Judge did on Wednesday and Thursday.

“He threw again [Thursday] and it went well. He threw out a little farther,’’ Boone said.

Depending on how Judge makes out Friday, there is a chance he could begin taking batting practice at some point over the weekend.

Considering Luis Severino is experiencing soreness in his right forearm and James Paxton is out at until at least June following lower-back surgery, Judge making progress is much-needed positive news for the Yankees who used the injured list 39 times last season and still won 103 games and the AL East.

Frazier’s plus bat speed was on display as well. With rosters expanding from 25 to 26, Frazier is in the mix for a reserve outfield job, but infielder Tyler Wade is perceived as the favorite.

With Saturday the beginning of the exhibition schedule against the Blue Jays at Steinbrenner Field, Friday is the final full-squad workout. Afterward, the Yankees will hold a team-bonding exercise on the grounds of GMS Field.
