Mariano Rivera will be honored in Manhattan today by the Salvation Army and receive the organization’s highest honor, the Pinnacle of Achievement award.

However, how much talking baseball’s all-time save leader will do isn’t known.

Rivera is expected to do some talking, but as of yesterday the event organizers weren’t sure how long the 41-year-old Yankee closer would be able to speak.

Rivera said he had an appointment Monday with a doctor to examine his vocal chords that for a month produced nothing more than a raspy whisper and Rivera didn’t rule out surgery.

“Every time I talk it gets worse and worse,’’ Rivera said on Nov. 22.

According to privacy laws, the Yankees aren’t allowed to discuss the situation since it isn’t a baseball-related injury.
