The Yankees will go with their veteran two lefty starters on the road and let Phil Hughes make his first postseason start at the new Yankee Stadium.
CC Sabathia will start Game 1 in Minnesota against the Twins on Wednesday and Andy Pettitte will get the ball in Game 2, while it appears A.J. Burnett will not get a start in the ALDS with the Yankees planning a three-man rotation. If there is not a sweep, the Yankees will likely go back to Sabathia in Game 4 and Pettitte if the series gets to a deciding Game 5.
The Twins’ four-man rotation consists of Francisco Liriano, Carl Pavano, Brian Duensing and Nick Blackburn.
