The Yankees added some pitching depth with CC Sabathia going on the disabled list Saturday.

A few hours after a 5-2 win over the Blue Jays, the Yankees signed former Red Sox starter Derek Lowe, who was designated for assignment and then released by the Indians on Friday, according to the Star-Ledger.

Lowe was 8-10 with a 5.52 ERA, but just 2-8 with an 8.80 ERA in his last 12 starts. In 16 seasons with the Mariners, Dodgers, Red Sox, Braves and Indians, he is 174-156 with a 4.01 ERA. The Star-Ledger is reporting that he will be used as a reliever.
