ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Jorge Posada is out of the Yankees lineup for the third straight game.
The Yankees have said there would be no discipline for Posada asking out of the lineup Saturday night and his sitting could have more to do with his struggles against lefties (0-for-24).
The Rays, Monday’s opponent, are starting ace lefty David Price in the first of two games between Tampa Bay and the Yankees.
Posada did have a pinch-hit walk in Sunday night’s 7-5 loss to the Red Sox.
Alex Rodriguez will get the day off from third base and be the designated hitter. Eduardo Nunez will fill in at third base, and Andruw Jones gets his third straight start, this time in left field for Brett Gardner.
