LAKELAND, Fla. — Aaron Boone said Saturday morning that Spencer Jones “can legit fly.”

So do the baseballs the Yankees’ top prospect gets a hold of

Jones demolished a 470-foot home run in his first at-bat of Grapefruit League play on Saturday, doing little to temper the hype that surrounds him in his first big league camp.

“Jaw-dropping,” Anthony Volpe said of Jones’ blast.

The 22-year-old center fielder came off the bench to go 3-for-3 with four RBIs and a hit by pitch, making a strong first impression.

“Pretty good debut in big league spring training,” manager Aaron Boone said.

Jones’ long ball came off a low-and-inside slider from Tigers right-hander Mason Englert.

The 6-foot-6, left-handed slugger may have gotten a little help from the wind that was blowing out to right field, but the blast cleared the bullpen beyond the right-field fence, with the ball landing on a patio above it at Joker Marchant Stadium.

“The wind helped a little bit for sure,” Jones said. “Felt good, caught it out front.”

Later, Jones worked a 12-pitch at-bat — fouling off six pitches with a full count — that resulted in a line-drive RBI single (111.4 mph off the bat) through the left side.

“That was a cool one,” said Jones, who went the other way for both singles. “I was just really locked in.”

Jones, who is expected to start the season at Double-A Somerset (where he played the final 17 games of his 2023 campaign), was the Yankees’ first-round pick out of Vanderbilt in 2022.

“Incredibly impressive,” said Volpe, who played with Jones on travel teams in high school and was set to attend Vanderbilt with him before signing with the Yankees. “The first thing obviously is the physicality that stands out, but then even just today, the at-bats he put together and how pure of a hitter it looks like he is, super impressive.”
